Hi, I’m glad you’re here.
I’m a British mum living in Brazil, raising my children in a country where almost nobody speaks English.
No teaching degree. No formal training. No “perfect” bilingual plan.
Just a mum, like you, trying her best.
When my children were small, I felt the same worries many parents have:
Am I doing this right?
Will my child really learn if I’m not a teacher?
What if I make mistakes?
And that’s exactly why I started this blog.
Why I Started Teaching English at Home
When we moved to a non-English-speaking country, I realised something very quickly:
If I didn’t use English at home, my children wouldn’t hear it anywhere.
But I didn’t want long lessons, worksheets, or school-style teaching.
I wanted something simple, natural, and kind — something I could do in the middle of real life: washing dishes, bath time, a messy bedroom floor.
So I began creating tiny routines, little games, and easy phrases that even *I* could remember during busy days.
And slowly, English became part of our home again — not a subject, just a normal, easy part of our lives.
What I Believe
I believe:
- You don’t need perfect English to teach your child.
- You don’t need lessons, textbooks, or a classroom.
- Daily moments are powerful — even five minutes matters.
- Children learn through repetition, play, and your voice.
- Mistakes are normal and don’t stop your child from learning.
- Confidence grows when things are simple, not stressful.
Who I Help
I created this blog for parents who:
- don’t feel fluent in English
- feel guilty or insecure about teaching it
- want practical ideas, not theory
- need things explained simply
- only have ten minutes at a time
- want English to become a natural part of family life
If that’s you, you’re exactly who I write for.
What You’ll Find on This Blog
Everything I share comes from real parenting, not a classroom.
Here you’ll find:
- simple English phrases you can copy
- quick activities for busy days
- natural routines you can fit around meals, playtime, and bedtime
- printable games and fun ideas
- honest advice for bilingual parenting
- explanations written for parents with low English levels
Nothing here is designed to impress teachers.
Everything is designed to help you.
My Approach
I keep things:
- quick
- clear
- practical
- friendly
- guilt-free
I talk the way I talk to my own friends — mums who are tired, busy, and doing their best.
I don’t pretend to be perfect, and I don’t expect you to be perfect either.
We are learning alongside our children, step by step.
A Little About Our Life Abroad
Living in a country where English isn’t spoken has shaped everything I do.
I know what it feels like to:
- feel completely alone
- navigate everyday life in another language
- worry your child might “lose” your mother tongue
- try to keep a language alive when everyone around you doesn’t use it
- to feel like people don’t even like that you to speak English
I understand those feelings deeply — and this blog is my way of helping other families who feel the same.
Why This Blog Exists
This blog exists to give you:
- confidence
- clarity
- simple tools
- a sense of “I can do this”
You won’t find pressure here.
You won’t find complicated ESL terms.
You won’t find long lesson plans that no real parent has time for.
Just a mum sharing what works — honestly, simply, and with a lot of heart.
